 		 FIXATIVES FOR SOFT PASTELS

We offer a selection of high quality fixatives in aerosol cans that work as both workable and final fixes. All spray fixatives are best applied in multiple thin coats rather than one heavy coat. Fixatives must be shipped via UPS Ground.
LASCAUX
Lascaux is a universal acrylic resin fixative suitable for many media. Lascaux can fix, seal and protect almost anything. This conservator quality acrylic sealer is clear, non-yellowing and resistant to aging.

SENNELIER LATOUR FIXATIVE
The Sennelier Latour is a resin and alcohol based solution formulated specifically for pastels. Latour is a very transparent, non-yellowing matte film.

NEW! PROTECTOR FIXATIVE FOR OIL PASTELS
Caran d’Ache makes an aerosol fixative specifically for use with oil pastels.  The synthetic resin in Protector is suitable as a final or workable fixative.  The Protector has excellent adhesion to the oil pastel surface and is a great base for other final fixes.

ART SPECTRUM PASTEL PRIMER

Pastel Primer is an acrylic primer with a fine tooth that can be applied to almost any non-oily surface.  The primer is light fast, permanent, non-toxic and available in 16 colors (that match their Colourfix papers) and clear.  The colors can be mixed with each other or tinted with acrylic paint and applied with a brush, roller or sponge. All colors are available in 250ml pots.  The White and Clear are also available in 1 litre tubs.

Golden Acrylics makes this ground specifically for pastel artists. The fine grit, 100% acrylic ground can be applied to any non-oily surface. It can be thinned with water and also tinted with acrylic paint for a colored ground.  The viscosity is thicker than the Art Spectrum

GOLDEN PUMICE GROUND FOR PASTELS

Goldenfs Pumice Ground has a very small grit size to produce a velvety surface. This 100% acrylic ground can be applied to any non-oily surface. It can be thinned with water and also tinted with acrylic paint for a colored ground.  The viscosity is thinner than the Golden Pastel Ground.

PUMICE

Pumice is a light colored volcanic rock used as an abrasive.  It can be used to make your own pastel ground by mixing with gesso or other priming material.  We carry the 4F (very fine) grade and package it in a 2 lb. bag.  Pumice is chemically inert and not a health risk.

GOLDEN FLUID ACRYLIC MIXING SET

The Golden Fluid Acrylic set includes 8 half oz. bottles of fluid (very light bodied) acrylic.  The Fluid Acrylics are excellent for tinting the Golden Ground for Pastel and Pumice Ground.  They also work for under painting on other sanded pastel papers.  Colors include: Hansa Yellow Med., Naphthol Red Lt., Pthalo Blue G.S., Pthalo Green B.S., Quinacridone Magents, Titanium White, Yellow Ochre and Zinc White.
