NEW! SOFFT PASTEL TOOLS

The semi-absorbent material used in Sofft Art Sponges is made from specially formulated micro pore sponge to hold and release pastel (and other painting materials). The non-abrasive material is durable (even when used on sanded papers!), cleanable and is available in a variety of sponge shapes and applicator knives with covers. The wide range of tools facilitates applications from broad based under painting and layering, to fine detail. Developed specifically for use with PanPastel, Sofft Tools have equal usefulness for manipulating traditional soft pastels!

PASTEL HOLDERS

These pastel holders have clamping jaws to securely hold the pastel, keeping fingers clean and gripping small bits of pastel. The Great American (square) Unison, Mount Vision, Diane Townsend and Sennelier do NOT fit any holders.

NEW! NATURAL VINE CHARCOAL

Natural Vine Charcoal is made of carbonized vine twigs. Drawing and sketching materials for making velvety black marks. Natural Vine boxes have 6 sticks about 6" in length and approximately 1/8" diameter. Willow assortment has approximately 60 pieces, 3" long and varying thickness from 1/8" to 1/4".

BLENDING STUMPS AND TORTILLONS

Stumps are made from soft grey felt paper with two tapered ends. Tortillons are spiral wound paper with one tapered end. A sandpaper block is useful for refining a point on stumps and tortillons, pencils and pastels.

GENUINE DEERSKIN CHAMOIS

Chamois is soft leather for blending and shading of pastel.

WHITE ARTIST'S TAPE

White paper tape is pH neutral, acid free, re-positionable and non-staining.  Works great for taping paper to boards, edging and labeling (the surface accepts all forms of writing media).

NEW! ACID-FREE BLACK MASKING TAPE

This pH neutral black masking tape is ideal for attaching pastel paper to your drawing board and establishing a dramatic visual border. Easy to apply and remove. All rolls are 60 yards long.

SOFT COLOUR SHAPERS

Colour Shapers are great tool for blending and manipulating pastel on the paper surface. They are easily wiped clean to use in different color areas.   The shapers have a composite rubber (soft white) tip, seamless nickel ferrule and a lacquered hardwood handle.

HOLBEIN PASTEL BRUSHES

There are two soft hair oval brushes for delicate blending, a pony hair flat round for lifting and shading, and an angled stiff synthetic for lifting and pushing color. The round handles are natural wood, four inches long, and have a beveled end.

DAHLE SHARPENERS - NEW SIZE!

Both Dahle sharpeners have an automatic cutting stop, adjustable taper setting for sharp or blunt tip, a self-feeding mechanism, a table mounting clamp and both can accommodate all the pastel pencil sizes. The new 133 sharpener features a mechanism to hold the auto feeder in place while you insert the pencil - a nice feature. The Solingen Steel cutting head is virtually identical on the two machines, although the Dahle 133 cutter has a sturdier metal mount to hold the rotary blade. In tests here, we found the 133 to cut better!

BRASS SHARPENER WITH REPLACEABLE BLADES

Pastel pencils require a good sharpener with a sharp blade. This hefty brass hand held model is round with two different size openings, each with a different taper. It also has replaceable blades - the key to good cutting. To assure a good cut, blades should be changed often!
