PanPastel Colors are genuine artist quality pastels that are highly pigmented, have excellent lightfast ratings and are uniquely packaged in a pan format. The unique manufacturing process requires minimal binder and fillers and results in an ultra soft low dust formulation. They are completely compatible with all soft pastels and pastel painting techniques! PanPastel can be applied like paint and are not as pressure sensitive as pastel sticks.
PanPastel is a truly innovative and unique product. Underpainting broad areas is easily achieved, with no waiting time involved for water or solvent washes to dry. Shading and blending techniques are accomplished with the use of the wide range of Sofft Tools. Colors can be mixed and blended in the pans (and easily cleaned off) for an infinite palette of color. Less pigment is used for coverage leaving more open tooth for subsequent layers. Color is erasable and is readily worked over with traditional stick pastels.
There are 80 rich ultra soft colors available – 20 mass tones, 20 tints, 20 shades and 20 Extra Dark Shades. Sets are available in 5, 10 and 20 piece selections. Dakota also offers a complete set of all 80 colors.
Studio Palette Trays are now available to store and transport your PanPastels. Available in 10 and 20 color sizes, they help organize, protect and make access to your PanPastel palette of colors much handier. Extra lids for the individual pans are also available in packs of 8.
