Classes meet daily from 9am to 4pm unless otherwise noted.

This intense workshop will begin with creating monotypes as backgrounds and underpaintings for pastel using Dakota's etching press. Off press techniques will also be shown. Additive and subtractive approaches to monotype will be presented, as well as trace monotype and brayer drawing techniques, even printing with pastel!

Students will explore innovative ways of layering pastel over monotype and non-monotype grounds using oil pastel, water mixable oil, Diane Townsend ground, and soft stick pastels, and PanPastel.

The process of additive and subtractive layering allows you to build up your surface, then reveal layers below by taking away. You'll return home refreshed and inspired about new ways to use your pastels!

Printing Inks, printing plates, and Evolon will be supplied.

You will be blissfully exhausted at the end of 5 days!
