||INTRODUCING FOUR NEW SAMPLER SETS:
The 6-stick sampler is an easy way for artists to experience the unique feel and handling qualities of the Blue Earth pastels.
The 12-stick sampler showcases the way the Blue Earth colors move from bright to dull, making it easier to select the right intensity of any particular color.
The 21-stick samplers feature a seven-tone structure that is common to all the Blue Earth colors. With seven tones it is possible to paint anything you see, even with a limited range of color. As long as the values are correct, the painting will be convincing. It is the tonal structure that carries the image!
FALL 2013 LINE EXPANSION TO 336 COLORS
INTRODUCING NEW COLORS AND PACKAGING
The Blue Earth Pastels have been exceedingly well received and appreciated for their traditional approach to color theory and sensible color wheel arrangement. With feedback given by artists and after using the original assortment for a year, a few adjustments are being made to fully round out the color range. Additions include a Turquoise range, Warm and Cool Nearly Neutrals and a 'D' line added to the original color ranges.
THE 'D' LINE
For each of the color ranges, a fourth row or 'D' line has been added. This row is further de-saturated with the complement for a very subtle, neutralized, grayed row of color. With this addition, each color range set now has 28 colors.
A new Turquoise set of 28 colors was added to fill a gap in the previous color range.
TWO NEW NEARLY NEUTRAL SETS
The old Neutral Box has been replaced by a much broader range of VERY subtle neutrals arranged in 28-piece boxes of Warm Nearly Neutral and Cool Nearly Neutral (the old Neutral A line is now in this box and labeled as the 'N' line with BLK & WHT).
ORGANIZATION AND PACKAGING
Each box is organized from dark (1) to light using a 1 thru 7 value scale. The ten color boxes are further divided by intensity: Line A is the brightest; Line B is medium intensity (graying line A with a complement); Line C is less saturated (more graying) and Line D is the least saturated, neutralized and grayed (least intense).
Finding the right color is simplified with this method of organization. Complementary color harmonies are easy to create. Organizing by hue, value and intensity allows a relatively small set to present the fullest expression of color. Each color range is packaged in a unique format that allows pastels to be inserted vertically in foam cradled boxes that measure 4" x 6 1/4" x 2". The pastels are in an almost square format and on the very soft end of the hardness scale. The pastels are made from high-density mineral pigments with a proven historical record for permanence. All sticks are numbered for easy identification.
