This set is exactly as shown...the darks are wonderfully bold, especially the 'eggplant'. I've always wanted this set specifically because the shades are so varied and I needed vibrant violets. Like all other Ludwig pastels, you can apply many layers of color and each is vivid and creamy. My all time favorite pastel.

Beautiful mix of violets, including the much sought after V100 which cannot be purchased singly (wish I could!). Dakota always packs their pastels with great care and they never disappoint with the shipping. Just love the colors and richness of these Terry Ludwigs. Terry Ludwig’s are the best! They are soft enough to give you luuuuush color, but firm enough to handle nicely and not crumble. I am slowly building my collection, one set at a time. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

This is my first purchase of Terry Ludwig pastels, and I love them. I was lacking good violets in my pastel collection, and these fill that void extremely well. There is a range of both warm and cool colors as well as values from very dark (eggplant!) to very light. The sticks are stubby but chunky and substantial. They are short enough to use them as is, but still long enough to break them in half if you wish. I feel that these will last a long time and are worth the price.

I was so excited to have finally Ludwig pastel!! Just started making the color chart of pastels i bought. I realized that some colors have very similar value and tone, and cannot differentiate. Maybe my opinion may change once I started painting. So this is just my initial impression.

I love these pastels. They flow across the Art 400 paper with many layers. The shape of the pastel allows fine lines. They are soft so do break easily if I press too hard.

So creamy with a bit of resistance. The value range is good and I love the warm and cool violets. thank you!!!

They are VERY soft and you really have to be gentle. The colors are very saturated. The darks are so dark that they look black. I am planning on switching pastel paper and I am betting they will be perfect on that surface.
