You don’t know what you’re missing until get get this set. It makes the best sky’s and water. I love the buttery softness.

I used about a third of these pastels on a sunset-nearing scene over an urban lake, in which the sun was occluded by a thick, dark cloud band. I believe the range of colors in this set will also be good contributors to nocturne skies. I did not incorporate sticks into my studio pallet but kept the box open on top of it.

These pastels are on the firmer side, allowing for great mark making and blending too. They are larger than all the other pastel brands so when broken in half you have 2 complete sets! This works for me as I have 2 studios from which I work.

The colors are vibrant and the size is very generous. The colors are graduated intensity allowing for natural blending and fading without using your finger.

I love the Mt. Vision pastels….their well made for the quality and they have a large selection of colors. Their a nice in between consistency. My only complaint with them is their packaging. Every time I have ordered them most of them are broken. In this Thunderstorm set at least half of the box was broken. Usually it’s right in half….so their still usable….but if they could do anything to improve them it would be better packaging.

I’ve wanted the Thunderstorm Grey set for my landscape skies. So many useful and beautiful colors in this set.

This set is beautiful...not a "dud" in the box and so authentic to thunderstorm clouds and skies! It fills-in all the blanks in my box that other sets just don't include. And I love Mount Vision's character of not too soft and not too hard.

Mount Vision pastels are just what I was looking for to allow me to build up color more gradually. The colors are great and I am pleased. However, this is the second shipment I have received with significant damage to the pastels. It is obvious that the pastels were well packed, but it was also clear that the outer box had been partially crushed to the point where about 20% of the sticks were damaged.

This is a beautiful collection of grayed colors - blues, greens, etc. The name suggests sky, but the colors in this set also remind me of the ocean waves and would be just as well-suited for sea or sky. The set arrived securely wrapped and without damage. A treasure.

A colleague in one art class told me I will love love love this set for my cloud and thunderstorm photos. This set will help me express my vision so much more accurately!

This set is great for my stormy skies. Deep rich colors, smooth but not too creamy or thick. Don’t crumble when applied.

You know, I was originally not a real big fan of mount vision pastels. I didn't hate them, they just didn't do enough for me. But I will tell you this, since Kitty Wallis brought her papers and now UART sanded papers have been on the scene, these pastels are a wonderful compliment to those substrates. The paper takes these pastels well and they are great for underpainting and blocking large areas and they layer well on these papers and boards. I use them mostly on the 400 Girt from UART. These thunderstorm greys are a great are a lovely set for skies and here in New England stormy seas, but they are so much more, great for any piece that can use those soft greys in the early morning, just before darkness and so many other possibilities. Looking forward to continuing to work with these to get the effects and impact I seek in my finished works. Thanks Mount Vision.

These pastel colors will suit me to a tee, I love the colors in a thunderstorm. Love them
