Congratulations 2024 Dakota Pastel Contest Finalists!

Congratulations to the 2024 Dakota Pastel Contest Winners! And a round of applause for all who participated. Our jurors understand the path well: the artistic journey is one of vulnerability, experimentation, and growth. It takes a great deal of courage to put yourself out there, and for each award, there are a tremendous number of paintings equally deserving of recognition. Consider yourself a pastel artist among peers!

This is our 5th year hosting this exciting and dynamic competition. This year, experimentation was a dominant theme. We saw returning artists stretching out into new subject matter and markmaking strategies, and new artists entered with fresh approaches. We are pleased that pastelists are continuing to push boundaries; not only of what pastel can achieve, but of how far their artistic voice can reach.

A Big Thanks to our team of Jurors for the 2024 Contest: Loriann Signori, Corey Pitkin, Barbara Jaenicke, and Mitch Albala.  We recognize the time and effort it takes to view so many entries and the difficulty of making the final selections. Your thoughtfulness and professionalism in jurying each Quarter and the Final Winners is appreciated.
