Sennelier has introduced a unique new product to the pastel universe – Woodless Pastel Pencils! The new pencils are produced in a selection of 48 colors that match colors and color numbers in the Sennelier soft pastel line. Of particular interest are the very dark colors available in this line. The texture is very similar to a hard pastel such as Cretacolor Carre’ or slightly harder than a NuPastel. They are a bit harder than the softest traditional pastel pencils with a very slight waxy feel.

The woodless nature of the product makes it useful both as a sharpened pencil for detail and using its beveled angle as a shading tool. The shavings can be used too!  The label is similar in design, information and function to the Sennelier Soft Pastels.

Sharpening the Sennelier Woodless Pencil is a bit of a challenge in traditional handheld or table top sharpeners, best results are obtained with a sharp knife or abrasive material such as pastel sand paper. The label removal also requires a knife to peel off. They are amazingly sturdy and are very hard to break or shatter.
