Jennifer "Jen" Evenhus discovers magic in her subjects with simplification and exaggeration, using her trademark style “the beauty of imperfection,” revealing the soul of the subject with a unique, bold sense of color and design. Her work is contemporary with abstract leanings.

Jen manipulates shapes, composition, space, and color, utilizing unusual tools, materials, and techniques, all the while waiting until the last minute to ‘reveal’ her subject with the magic of negative painting!

Jen is a popular national workshop instructor, giving “The Beauty of Imperfection” pastel workshops for the last ten years. She has been published in magazines such as The Pastel Journal, American Artist, Pratique des Arts French Magazine, PSWC Magazine, IAPS Magazine The Globe and PSA Pastel-a-gram. Jen’s award-winning work has been included in many National and International Juried Exhibits.  She recently received Best of Show in the 2020 Northwest Pastel Society 34th Annual International Juried Exhibition and the Bill McEnroe Award in the 2021 NPS 35th Annual, both held at the Prestigious American Art Company Gallery in Tacoma, WA.

Jen is honored to have Juried many National and International Pastel Exhibits such as:
Pastel Society of the West Coast “Pastels USA” International Open; Pastel Society of New Mexico National Juried Exhibit; Connecticut Pastel Society “Renaissance in Pastels”; Cape Cod Pastel Society “For Pastels Only” International Exhibit; IAPS 2018 Annual Juried Exhibition; Chicago Pastel Painters “Pastels Chicago” 6th Biennial National Open Juried Show; Pastel Society of Maine “Pastels Only” International Juried Exhibit; Southeastern Pastel Society International Juried; along with many Members Shows and in 2019 was a juror for the Pastel Journal “Pastel 100” Still Life/Floral Category.
