"Doing it Right!"
Excitement runs high when I see that package of pastels in the mail from Dakota, because I know they have taken great care to package them. This is my first experience with Cretacolor. Their pastels’ reputation for light fastness precedes them. They are great for smaller sized paintings as well as larger underpaintings.

"Harder than NuPastel"
Thought I'd give these a try, having been pleased with Cretacolor's Graphite Drawing Set, to see how they compare with NuPastel. They come nestled in six styrofoam compartments, arranged roughly by color family. Should've tried a smaller set first. I found them to be harder and less color-rich than NuPastels--possibly due to less pigment (they feel more like Conte). That said, this full set has a good range of color, and, in my mind, are more suitable for drawing and sketching.

"Cretacolor Carre set of 72"
This selection really works. Colors include highly saturated hues as well as neutral grays in various values. They are great with sanded papers.
