I initially received this product as a sample when I purchased another item from Dakota. Since I have been extremely happy with the pastel paper I have been using for a number of years I wasn’t looking to change, but was willing to give this product a try anyway. Boy, am I glad I did! I absolutely love the grit, feel and weight of it. Now I have two “favorites” in my studio to choose from.

Great paper! I’ve regularly used UArt, Pastelmat, and Pastel Premier. I enjoy underpainting and the LaCarte paper cannot take water, so I was initially hesitant to use this paper. However, I recently tried this surface and it’s a lovely grit and feel. True, you cannot underpaint, but it comes in beautiful tones so that this doesn’t turn out to be an issue. I also like the firmness of the card - it’s got some weight to it so the paper is not flimsy. We’re so lucky as pastellists to have such fabulous surface / support choices.

Great paper to work on in useful tones. Dakota is always so good with packing and shipping that everything comes in mint condition and quickly! I like this format better than the pad which is a pain to get paper off without damaging edges. Highly recommend!

Just learning to use pastels on sanded paper. It is very different from painting on a regular pastel paper surface. I find it difficult, but the final product looks so much better.
