I saw a short demo Dawn gave and I was sold. I have not used PP before so I am on a learning curve. Not sure the foam tools appreciate the sanded paper but I like the paint like action. The colors are great.

I used PanPastels as an underpainting on gray Ampersand pastelboard, for an underwater ocean scene, first laying down a layer of colorless blender. I assumed they would bblend with the other layers of soft stick pastels I planned to use on top of them. However, no ... They did not. So I layered Mount Vision and Terry Ludwig on top of the pans, trying to create a new layer I could blend, however the underlayer (pans + colorless blender) affected the TL's & MV's such they weren't blending together as they usually do. Finally, I went to the sink to wash it all off, and they don't wash off the board like the soft stick brands usually do. The colors are beautiful, but they do not blend with soft sticks and they affect the way soft stick pastels blend with one another, at least on Ampersand Pastelboard. I'm sure there are applications where they work well, but as an underpainting for soft stick pastels in on Ampersand, I was highly disappointed.

Wow! This collection was a super surprise! The packaging is really nice. Everything individually and safely wrapped. The pan pastel colors are beyond beautiful, soft and richly smooth and buttery. Hues are true and the sponges that came with the kit provide so many enhanced application options that I was thrilled with the entire purchase. Thank you, once again, Dakota Pastels!

There is no better pastel product than pan pastels. The last and last and the colours are bright and true. They have fantastic coverage and I love using them.

I recently took an online class with Dawn Emerson and had fun with the pan pastels. The color selection in the set is so versatile and allows me to paint with just the pan pastels if I choose and use soft pastels to create dramatic marks.

I tried pan pastels for the first time and am just growing accustomed to them. I like them and, as advertised, they work well with traditional pastel sticks, pastel pencils and charcoal. The color selection in the Emerson packet was more than sufficient. I may rate Pan Pastels a “5” after I become more familiar with techniques.

I was inspired by the Dawn Emerson videos demonstrating the Panpastels and the brayer method of drawing with water soluble oils. I am initially disappointed by the look of the pans but I will play with them a lot more before I decide that she works magic and I can't!

I have been reading Pastel Innovations and watching Dawn Emerson YouTube demo videos and I decided to give PanPastel a shot. I absolutely love this product, it is so much fun and so easy to work with. The colors on her set are beautiful! PanPastel colors are luminous, they mix and moves so easily! You can also use your pastel sticks and pencils with it. So far I have tried with stencils, monotype print , dark background pastel paper.

This set was absolutely beautiful. I love the color choices that the artists put together. They are a joy to paint with. I love them so much I now want the rest of the colors in the PanPastel collection and have ordered those. It feels more loose and free than soft pastel sticks although I still love those and use them with this set.

OMG! I am in LOVE!!!! These pastel are so soft and vibrant. Mixes well. Never thought I would be painting with sponges. LOL Easy and fun!!!!

My pan pastels arrived this Saturday the 16th of January here in New Zealand after a long wait (due to Covid of course). I am absolutely thrilled with them. I opened them and started using them the next day. I am new to Pan Pastels so this is a new adventure in pastelling. I currently use soft and hard pastels. The colors are divine. The product arrived safe and sound so thanks for packaging them so well. Very satisfied with the service I received and the communication I had from the staff at Dakota.

What a brilliant array of color. I'm starting to use them and am loving the results. Not cheap but I think the investment will may me back in the long run.

These are quite wonderful. I’ve been painting with soft chalks for sometime but I was formerly an oil and acrylic painter. I love these because I am able to mix exactly the color I want the way I could with oil paints. They mix effortlessly with the chalks either on top or under and I’m having a great time. I also love Emersons collection. I hate those canned groupings for outdoor painting, figure painting etc., these are just great colors that will allow you to mix anything you want

I am new to pan pastels but I love these. They are so versatile and allow me to create with mixed media.

This is a a great set of pastels If you are just starting out. This set contains just about every color you would need to create a beautiful piece of art, plus you can mix colors to create even more hues!

Colors look gorgeous and I know product quality is good. Your survey came much too quickly for me to have any wrong opinion one way or the other.

Love the paint-like quality of these. As a watercolor painter, I am using these in mixed media pieces mostly in larger swaths of application- sheer passages of color or tonal adjustment with sponges. The quality of materials is remarkable with little dust and little cross contamination of color as I work from pan to pan to mix unlimited colors.

The collection is stunning and I am excited to begin to work with it. I purchased this after viewing Dawn's video on the PanPastel channel at YouTube, and found her presentation inspiring and encouraging. Thank you for sending the collection and my other PP accessories so carefully packaged. Everything arrived in perfect condition.

I love pan pastels and these are lovely, vivid, vibrant colors. The packaging was so well done there was no damage to the product. Pan Pastels are one of the best inventions ever!!!

So far, they are great and much easier and fun to use than the stick pastels.

Really haven’t had a chance to spend much time with the pan pastels but so far I am amazed at their versatility. The work well with paint and charcoal and I look forward to experimenting with other mediums in conjunction with the pan pastels. The rich colors these pastels provide opens up the door to a lot of options for art exploration.

Just yummy, Can't wait to try them. if you ever get a chance to take a class from Dawn, do it! The video was very helpful, as well.

Great colors! Really like the flat palette set up. Only had a few colors in a stack, and found that very hard to use.
