Dakota Pastels are a staple in my collection. The colors are vivid and the shades are diverse. I expect to use them in every painting I create.

This is my first set of Blue Earth pastels and I adore the color system. There are the warm and cool colors in this pallette and being in New Mexico I can see the colors I will use to paint the rock formations. They are the perfect size for my plein air box too! Soft and creamy, not crumbly.

So far I only have the cool purple set and now the orange set. Because of the very soft consistency, Blue Earth Pastels are perfect for highlights, intense areas and final marks. When the paper already has quite a bit of pastel, that is when I have found this brand to do the job I need. Blue Earth is new to me and I am sure I'll find many more ways to use them. The graduation of values in each set (or the whole set) is very convenient. And there are no labels to remove from the sticks! Needless to say I am sold on this brand and hope to acquire many more!
