This set was a splurge but I'm glad I did it and caught the sale price. And thank you, Dakota, for listing the other colors that are not in the set so that I could buy them separately and thus have all 84 colors (except you are sadly out of stock on Azurite White).

I've seen good and bad reviews for these pastel pencils. Personally, I love them and finally bought the whole set. All the different pencils all work differently but all work well together. Such beautiful colors in this set! Higher priced but worth it!

The Caran d'Ache 76 Assorted Pencil set contain a rainbow of vibrant colors. They apply smoothly and we’re easy to sharpen with the pastel breaking inside. The colors maintain their brilliance when blending and are idea for fine detailed work.

I had the 40 set and kept wishing for more. Finally, I was able to get the 76 set. I love these. I have been able to use my drawing skills more easily with these and it is a really good selection of colors. They are soft, so fair warning, you will have to sharpen them more frequently perhaps than other brands. But that softness allows them to be welcome supplements to regular soft pastels and of course for detail. Tip: I use Generals little red sharpeners, which I buy in multi-packs, because they don’t work very well when they get dull, but I haven’t found anything else that satisfactorily sharpens these (without eating them up).

These are the best pastel pencils I have ever used. Very precise and buttery soft texture.

I have used Stabilo for over 30 years, I wanted to give these a try. The most obvious difference is the price- these are expensive! Although they are very high quality. They feel softer than the Stabilo, but do not have a crumbling problem. They sharpen wonderfully, not falling apart do to internal faults, as I have had some Stabilo do. I ordered 10 individual pencils to try them out and was pleased enough to purchase the set of 76-which are on back order. I can’t wait to see the color spectrum of these wonderful pencils. Also, the internal stick of pastel measures 4.5mm, as opposed to Stabilo and Bruynzeel at 4mm. Little bit more pastel in there but not sure if it justifies double the $.

What can be said? These pastel pencils live up to the Caran Dache name. Pigmented, vibrant colors, smooth laydown, superb blending. I started with a full set of Carbothello, added a full set of FC Pitt, then pastel pet portraits seemed to take off for me so I decided now that commissions were coming in, I'd treat myself to these puppies. I already had abiout 10 colors I had purchased from Dakota but they are colors I use a lot (unique). The price was the best I had seen. In fact, Dakota almost always has the best price on pastel supplies

These are wonderful pencils! Worth every penny, even if the 76 piece set are missing some. I have to say I priced these elsewhere and I was able to get this set at a reasonable price, and get the missing colours all together spending about what I would have spent on just the set on other sites! Thank You Dakota- I will return with more orders, you can depend on that!

Opening the box was very exciting - the color range is exceptional. Working with these pencils is a dream. They feel so silky. I thought other brands were good but Caran d'Ache is the best. I'm so happy with the set.
