"Just Right!........Girault is doing a happy dance all over my paper!"
I'm smiling from ear to ear. At first, I was confused about which brand of pastels to purchase but I came here and had all the kindness, help, and suggestions I needed from April and the thoughtful, generous, Lance. I thought my "hand," was light when I picked up some pastels. I bought what I needed to start but later had problems. In November, I heard someone say that when they used Girault, "just like Elizabeth Mowry did," they were perfect. So I tried this set. Girault turned out to be great. This assorted set contains 25 pcs. ; just enough to provide the opportunity to get comfortable with the brand, develop my hand and try value ranges, brights, neutrals and some earth based pigments. The set worked really well for me and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I love the ability to paint the initial layers with a light hand, and still use them for finishing layers. I will be buying a larger set soon, providing Santa doesn't buy them for me first!

    "Nice Starter Set"
I purchased this and the Landscape set of 25, and tried them out with a Margaret Evans lesson this morning on a sheet of Mi Teintes paper. I will be using them primarily for underpainting and fine detail and am very happy with the two sets together. They make a very useful color and tonal range with the addition of only a few more sticks (for personal preference) that I have already ordered, together with the Neef box that holds 60 pastels. These will complement the Diane Townsend and Sennelier pastels I already use.

    "Not what I expected"
Given the price and their reputation, I was expecting the Girault pastels to be fantastic! Instead, I found them to be about like NuPastels (Prismacolor, Faber Castell). They were hard, which I expected, but also, some of them had the sort of varnish-type coating which made it difficult to draw with them. They wouldn't go over softer pastels (somewhat expectedly), but they also didn't go onto sanded paper smoothly or cover well. I was very disappointed and won't buy more.

    "Girault Assorted"
I have been looking for a small set so I can Urban Sketch with Pastel. This had all the right colors and tones in an easy Carry box. I love Girault Pastels for their size the right texture not too soft not too hard. This was a favorite pastel of my Grandmother and it has also become my favorite.

    "Girault Pastels"
Love them! I enjoy the fact I can break them and they don't fall apart and are small and large enough for me to use easily.

    "Beautiful to look at."
The company service was prompt and helpful. The product arrived in excellent shape and in good time. The pastels are certainly a wonder to gaze upon. I have only just started to try them out but I am sure they will be up to the expected Girault standards.
