Colors are beautiful. Sticks are generously sized for half sticks.

These are wonderful, vibrant pastels. I was warned they could crumble easily when making marks. For me, that was not true. They made marks easily with reasonable pressure and not crumble. They lay down very easily, but I did not find them creamy as I Thought they might be. They were also more dusty than my other pastels( Ludwig, Townsend,Girault,Schmincke,etc.). Not impossible to manage, but their other attributes made up for the dustiness. Shape, size, and color plus this McKinley assortment is really well rounded. Delivery was slow but then this was backordered, packing was great.

I tried these for the first time and am SO impressed with the feel, softness (without crumbling, and the way they glide onto the surface leaving beautiful pigment behind. I had wanted to try the more expensive TL sets but after trying the GA McKinley Land set, I'm going to expand my GA pastels and forgo the expensive TL. You cannot go wrong with these and I know you will love them as much as I do!

I am just loving this set of Great Americans. The colors were perfectly selected and these pastels apply heautifully.

I'm thrilled with this collection of pastels. The colors are perfect for landscapes, but can be used for a variety of other subjects as well. Their texture is creamy and smooth. I can lightly brush on a few particles to add a hint of color or I can make bold strokes. Blending them is very easy.

Great suite of colors targeted toward landscapes in 91 money saving half sticks. Very soft so you need to watch your pressure.

I purchased this set after taking a workshop with Richard McKinley. I tend to always use a lot of color in my work and I am trying to tone it down with some nice gray softer tones to get a more atmospheric effect. Then I will add in my brights at the end. This kit for me has lots of those neutrals I feel like I needed. It does have some nice pops of color too. I think it will be quite versatile.

I am very happy with this set. Like the color choices and the 1/2 stick size. I have mostly Unisons and find the Great Americans very similar, nice and creamy.

The vibrant colors were amazing.

The colors in this set are all colors I'll use. It's rare to find sets that don't include at least a few sticks you feel are just taking up space and you're sure you'll never use. The pastels are creamy, yet don't crumble as you lay color down. Gorgeous selection. As always, Dakota Pastels packs its products so that everything arrives in perfect condition. I decided to treat myself to some new pastels in preparation for a Richard McKinley workshop in the Fall. I was excited to open my Dakota shipment to see the beautiful artist pastels. Everything arrived on time in in great condition. I hate to spoil the beautiful clean colors, but will definitely enjoy each and everyone of them. I particularly like the color charts provided, too.
