    "Absolute best"
This is the first time that I am using Mount Vision soft pastels and what a joy! They are smooth and buttery. They lay well on card paper. Loaded with pigments, the colors are vivid. I will purchase again.

    "Excellent"
I appreciate Mount Vision soft pastels for their affordability and color ranges. They are the workhorse in my palate, supplemented with a few other brands, but definitely my go to when needing to order new pastels.

I began buying Mount Vision beginning with the thunderstorm set. Love them and I have been buying singles for a while.

    "Mount vision"
Pastels tend to the hard side. I expected buttery smooth?

"Great value and love the hardness"
I love that you can make really sharp lines with these. The colors are great and the hardness is perfect for under painting. Great value too with the size of the ginormous stick!

"Order of 71 Mount Vision soft pastels"
I received my order of 71 pastels. I didn't know what to expect, I've never ordered from them before. I've received much smaller orders from other companies, and several were a mess of all broken, crushed pastels. This order of 71 pastels is as good as it gets...not one broken pastel. Dakota packages them well...in a box with foam all around them, then bubble wrap all around all of the boxes. Perfect, thank you Dakota.

    "Mount Vision white pastel sticks"
I paint sailing and surf scenes which require white. The Mount Vision sticks offer warm and cool variations. These are are a great help.

First time to try. Seem good. Haven’t had a chance to compare to schmicke

    "Mt. Vision Review"
These are a great value. The sticks are large so you get a lot for your money. They are grittier than Unison, and I like that quality about them. The grit creates some nice texture in the paintings.

    "Work Horse Pastel"
This is by far the most important pastel. It lays down a layer of grit and color as an underlayer as no other pastel can! Sennelier and Schminke should be used as buttery soft top layers. They do not have the grit as Mount Vision. This pastel is big! Never fails!

    "Mount Vision"
Purchased several individual stocks of Mount Vision pastels to add to the Chromatic set I already had. I'm a big fan of these pastels - great colors, versatile texture, solid value. Parcel arrived with no breakage. Great service - thanks Dakota!

"Will keep adding more in the future."
After I bought my first pastel set which was Sennelier, and learned more about pastels I wanted to try other kinds. Mount Vision colors were the only others available in the nearest art supply store--I bought three shades of grey and liked them very much. Am gradually adding more -- this order was for a few sticks of what are, for me, unusual colors and they are wonderful. Tropical Red Yellow, Reddish Orange, Khaki, and Yellow Green.

    "A question of taste..."
I've been trying more pastel brands, as I'm an in a difficult portrait...I'm not really a great fan of Mount Vision pastels. Sure, the company is generous in the size of the sticks, and they're good pastels anyway. I'm rather disapointed with their colors, I find them too "obvious", even a bit primitive, and there's is a problem (normal) to see them clearly on a monitor. The pastel doesn't shine a lot, is a bit on the "chalk" side...not enough pigment maybe? but, really, it's a question of taste, and they're good value for money....

    "Beautiful pastels, lovely to use"
Mt. Vision pastels are beautiful and a pleasure to use, neither too soft or too hard. When I lay down color, it looks exactly like the stick, no surprises. The color selection is execellent; I can find anything I want.

"Mount Vision: Excellent color and texture"
This is the first sample of Mt Vision that I am trying. I like this pastel and will probably order more in the future.

    "Rating Mt Vision Blue"
I needed a range of sky blues that were not in the cerulean hues. This combination is a perfect mix for me.

    "Very rich pastel"
This iridescent pastel is very rich. It is soft. Using it as the top of last layer is best. This brand of pastels is the best!

    "An Excellent Value"
I've been adding these pastels to my collection since they were first introduced. The brand has become my workhorse, especially for plein air. Although I use an underpainting for larger studio work, I can go directly into plein air work with good coverage and without a dense buildup. There is a great range of colors, many that are similar to the subtle colors of Unison, but at lower cost. They contain marble dust, which makes them "dryer", as opposed to creamy, and last a long time. I especially like the Thunderstorm Grays set, and recommend it as an adjunct to a standard landscape selection.

    "Similar to Girault Pastels"
Although I really enjoy using these pastels, their shape takes some getting used to. I cut them in half or smaller and like their texture. Also, their color runs are beautiful. Almost always buy the whole run when I add to my collection.

    "Inconsistant"
Overall the sticks are a bit to hard for me, as i always start with a alcohol wash. Some sticks are very good and some seem a little harder.

    "Nice pastels"
I haven’t used Mt Vision a lot but I do like them as a medium soft pastels. Lots of good colors.
  • Peggy8/21/2020 1:20 PM
    "Great"
These are great, you get a lot of pastel for the money spent. Colors are nice and smooth, the darker colors have more grit to them which I'm not wild about but I really like them. Will be ordering more.

    "Thunderstorm Series"
Although I did not buy the entire Thunderstorm set, I will say how happy I am with the sticks I am trying for the first time from that series. I was not familiar with Mount Vision, but would buy more of them. They were recommended by Lana Ballot, pastelist.

    "Mount Vision Pastel"
Very soft and butter great value too!

"Love Mount Vision’s whole thunderstorm series."
As a pastelist I have And do use many brands, but really enjoy these. Just enough grit coupled with softness. Similar to girualts.

    "Just OK"
Maybe it was the colors I selected, but i do not care much for these. They are very grainy and do not go on smooth. I'll probably use them like hard pastels and use as a base layer. The colors themselves are beautiful.

"Best customer service on the planet!"
These were replacement sticks due to damage to a Mount Vision set I ordered. Dakota does a superior job of packing and this shipment was no exception and was totally the fault of UPS. Dakota had new sticks to me within days!

    "Mount Vision"
As I transition from doing landscape work in oils to pastel, I find that Mount Vision is a surprise. First the quality is consistently good with little evidence of hardness or crumbling. The MV quality, large stick and low price adds up to value. If there is a weakness for a newbie, it is with a scatter shot color organization and woefully inadequate presentation material. If you are starting out, expect to spend about three months setting up your palette and a high probability of overbuying from having to do this in the dark. Someone at MV should look at the Gamblin Oils website to learn how to suggest a palette.
