I am a pressed flower artist and use these pastels to enhance color and color correct flowers that have faded in the press. I tried many different art materials before discovering these pastels, and they are amazing! They blend so smoothly and I’m able to retain a very realistic color and dimension. I love them!

I ordered a 20 piece Panpastel set from Amazon and 3 pans arrived broken and a dust could enveloped me when I opened the box that stained my clothes and floor. Fighting mad, I returned the purchase and immediately bought the same set for the same price from Dakota. My Dakota items arrived within 2 days inside an intact and well insulated . I regret it took the lousy experience with Amazon to get me to using Dakota, but I have a pretty heavy output as an artist and I will be back (and back, and back!)

Thank you for promptly replacing the Panpastel which was damaged in transit. Am still new at Panpastels, and find them,so far, to be more “putsy” than soft pastels. But I will keep experimenting since I bought most of them.

For me the advantage of the individual pans is that it allows me to select colors and build a palette as needed. This saves me money and time.

I use Pan Pastels on all of my pastel art. I started to do needle felting and saw a few tutorials that show using these as well. Dakota Art Pastels is the only place I'll buy them, excellent service, excellent packaging, nothing even arrives broken!

Everyone has their favorite colors or workhorse basic colors that they use more than the rest. It is so nice to be able to order refill to keep your pan pastels complete!

Fairly new to using pan pastels. A light touch goes a long way. Pastel pencils work well over them. Colors are rich and cost effective. For best results use proper sponges sold on this site.

Love them. So glad I tried them. Was totally disinterested at first until I heard and saw what other artists were doing with them.

I am really enjoying trying these paints\pastels. They are easy to work with and aren't nearly as messy as stick pastels.

This stuff works like magic! It extends the Pan Pastels while keeping the colors true. While I am leaving a product review, I also want to say the customer service is first class and keeps me coming back.

I like the Pan Pastels! However, there is a learning curve. Now that I’ve used them more I find they are great for backgrounds or anyplace you want a smooth application. I DO NOT RECOMMEND these for Uart 320 Grit sanded paper. It tears up the Sofft tools. However, I was able to use the large sponges. Dakota shipped them perfectly with no damage.

These pastels are great for skies and various underpainting techniques.

I have not been doing pastel piece for very long. I was introduced to PanPastels in a group on Facebook. Absolutely love them for under painting, saves on pencil use. Dakota Art Pastels was also recommended in that group. Excellent prices, customer service and shipping. Will be my go to for pastels and accessories!

I bought the pan pastels to explore-I’m still “playing” and experimenting so not sure a review from me would help anyone? I do love the smoothness of them.at the moment I’m just making marks on different supports to see how they go on-Lots of YouTube information out there too! I would say if you don’t want dust these are the way to go! I do love the vibrant color range-I’m just having fun with them at the moment.

I certainly appreciate that Dakota pastels sells the Pans individually, so one can buy whatever colors they need and not just in sets. Pan Oastels are perfect for certain large area applications like background, & the colorless blender I use w/various other pastel brands for blending ease.
