These make beautiful, highly colored marks. I love the colors for accent. However, I’m frustrated by how brittle and crumbly they are. One of them crumbled into pieces just from lifting it from the foam. They arrived unscathed, so it wasn’t a shipping issue. If these held together more I would definitely give five stars.

These were worth the wait! Since they were on backorder, I received them a month after I ordered, and they did not disappoint. Beautiful day-glow colors! I used them today for painting a picture of a lovely Royal Poinciana tree, in both the first underpainting layer and in applying the final bright accent marks. Delightful!

Love the size and colors

I recently completed a painting of back lit cacti on a shaded path. I needed the highlights to 'carry the day' for the composition. I found that the fluorescent Diane Townsend colors gave me the impact and contrast required. Also, in my other paintings, nothing brings a better light to an edge of a form than a thin line of a Fluorescent pastel. You don't want to do an entire painting with these pastels, but you cannot beat them for brilliance. The eye reads the color differently than the same hue say in a Sennelier or Terry Ludwig. I find this set a wonderful aid to expression. I have also used the greens to scumble over other greens, a wonderful effect.
