I ordered a set of Townsend Terrages that arrived with several of the pastels crushed. This was ńot due to how the pastels were packaged by Dakota for shipping , but likely occurred in original packaging at Townsend. I called Dakota and was greeted with such kindness and eagerness to make it right that I was overwhelmed. It is this kind of business that I will always be loyal to. My broken pastels have been replaced . Thank you Dakota !!!

These pastels also arrived yesterday. Not sure how they are going to work. I couldn't make a thin line maybe with a bit of practice I could. Not sure about how to handle them. To be honest I would buy the thins first. All the pastels arrived safe and please with the choice of pastel Thanks Dakota.

We got to try DianeTownsend's Flourescent Colors by using those funky colors and regular pastel by painting a coconut tree. We use the blues,pinks greens to paint the skies, And use the other flourescents to make marks all over the tree. I found that it was easy to use. LOVE LOVE THEM.

These certainly do add zip to any pastel painting and as an added bonus they add more ground! Love them.

When my Diane Townsend terrages arrived, three of them were broken and shattered. They were packed carefully with bubble wrap and padding, but somehow they managed to break in shipping. I contacted Dakota and received a credit for the broken ones. I used the credit to purchase the replacements for the set. Thank you very much Dakota Pastels.

One of the colors was so far off from what was pictures, taht it was useless to me.

I like the Terrages after getting used to their crumbly tendencies. I was disappointed in this order because the colors were not consistent with the ones I was replacing in my set. I will keep in mind in the future that Diane Townsend Terrages are not consistent in colors in replacement pieces.

The Terrages have some of the best fluorescent and bright colors for adding highlights. The rough surface makes them perfect. An essential part of anyone's supply.

Very pleased with the results of these pastels! The white is very brilliant and exactly what I was looking for. I use it for my whitest whites and final touches. I would highly recommend although pricey.

This is the first time I have used this style of pastel. I found it was great for block in. I will purchasing some darker shades to help me establish my initial contrasts

Want to work quick? Want to work large? Don’t have time for mind numbing details? Want to us a chunk of pastel rather than a mere stick? These bad boys will have you flying through a composition in no time. Like all artist quality pastels these slabs of color are loaded with pigment. However they also have a bit of pumice added which allows additional layers. Should you try the Terrages by purchasing a single chunk? Ooh hell no. Buy one of the curated sets and experience the interaction of the Terrages. Buy the Fauve and feed the beast within.

Beautiful colors

Love the chunky size of these pastels. Due to it’s unique texture it leaves almost a “dry-brush” effect. Easy to lay down large swaths of color when working on bigger sheets of paper. I ordered the Wolf Kahn A,B,C set and loved them so much I ordered some more individual colors!

I tend to push the layering of my pastels to their limits.These pastels are great for adding multiple layers without using a lot of fixative.

I love the size, shape, grit and amazing color selection of these pastels. I can leave the paper on (helps fingers stay cleaner) for most of the time I'm using them because of the wide flat surface at the ends. Terrific product!

Love the feel and the colors are vibrant. This was my first experience with terraces...unfortunately ..one from each set crumbled upon removing from the box...I called about it and you were happy to send me replacements...they are good. These rough, flat pastels are great for backgrounds and foliage, rocks--you name it! I like that because of their shape I can leave the labels on till they are quite a lot smaller. They are great to use.

These pastels provide smooth coverage for large areas. They contain pumice which readily fills the tooth of sanded papers, while creating a fine texture upon which to build layers. Perfect for painting skies .
