Dakota Art 8-ply Boards are my new go-to surface for large pastel paintings. The integrity of these boards are excellent!

    "Uart is the best!"
Uart is the only pastel paper I use. I have tried many brands, and experimented with various brands, comparing them side by side; doing underpaintings and trying multiple layers on each, while counting the layers that each would accept. Uart was the best! I like the 400 grit. I use the sheets in my studio and the 8 ply boards for plein air work.

    "Excellent pastel surface"
I have been using UART exclusively for the last10 years and have always found it to be an excellent surface for pastels. The variety of grits will allow every pastelist to find the perfect texture for the style of painting. I like to do detailed work and the 500 grit works perfect for that, while still allowing me to utilize multiple layers of pastel.

    "Indestructible and Versatile Pastel Surface"
I love working on these UArt Boards. They accept any underpainting technique using water, alcohol or OMS. You can choose the “grit” level (from coarse to very fine) that works for your pastel painting technique. Also, as the pastel paper is mounted on an 8-ply archival board, framing is simplified. These boards are more expensive than other supports available but, in my opinion, worth the extra cost due to the ease of use (for plein air painting) and artistic flexibility (because you are not limited in technique) and the ease framing (especially if you frame your paintings yourself). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

    "U Art Paper"
It is taking me time to get used to this. I now there are advantages to it though. I like having it on the 8 ply board. The 4 ply board would curve.

    "My favorite surface"
I love UART 320--for me it has just the right amount of grit for lovely layering over an underpainting. And I love the 8-ply boards as they don't warp and provide a really wonderful surface to work on.

    "Great Boards"
I love using these boards. Since I do not use a mat when framing the finished pastels, they are totally ready to put into a frame...not trimming of the borders. I love the rigidity of the boards, also. The 400 and 500 grit are my choice for my work. Suzanne Owens

Sturdy for both in studio or in the field pastel work. Can be cut to customized sizes by Dakota. Takes alcohol washes with ease. Just an awesome product.

    "Excellent boards"
Wonderful sturdy boards. Love UArt. But please why did it all need so much tape over the plastic?

    "UART 8 Ply Boards"
This product is awesome. transportable and top notch. Take alcohol washes with no loss of grit. I've been using these almost exclusively with my latest work. I just love how it layers and works with the pastels.

"UART 8 ply board is very hard to cut"
Haven't used them yet, so my review is really meaningless, except that I expected to get a large sheet and cut it down. I think the product description should state what they are made of and that they are extremely hard to cut. I had to take them to a framer for cutting, at added expense.
