Introducing a new Professional Sanded Art Paper developed by colored pencil artist Alyona Nickelsen of Brush and Pencil.
LuxArchival is an excellent surface for Soft Pastel! The base paper is 100% Cotton, Acid-Free, Lignin Free, and a substantial 140 lb./300 gsm weight. The Archival surface will not yellow, darken or deteriorate in any way and will last 100+ years.
The sanded surface has an aggressive 400 grit, is even and consistent without any visible pattern. The extremely durable White surface handles any dry media, holds many layers of pastel, handling erasures, corrections and reworking without damage to the paper.
Suitable for ALL liquid underpainting mediums: handles Water, Alcohol and Odorless Mineral Spirits without buckling or softening the surface.
LuxArchival is available in White only and in four sheet sizes and Rolls of 48” x 5 yards.
"Hands down, this is by far the best professional sanded paper that I have used! I’m a master pastelist and my go to paper used to be Wallis. I tried the usual brands, Uart, Premier, PastelMat, but none really worked well with my particular technique. I can’t say enough good about this paper. It takes 30+ layers of pastels, it’s rugged and no damage occurs if you have to rework or brush out a section, plus the surface of the paper is consistent throughout. I’m not inclined to do so, but for those pastelist that do, it states that you can use a water based underpainting or alcohol wash with no buckling of the paper. I did test strips using pastel sticks and pencils on LuxArchival and Wallis with no difference in the appearance of the colors. The application of the pastel felt very similar, and the surface of LuxArchival has no visual pattern as stated. It checks off all the boxes that I need in a sanded surface. It is a dream to use. Thank you LuxArchival!" -Barbara G., PSA Signature, Master

"Pastel paper"
Love this paper, I wish they had a 12x16 sheet. It doesn’t buckle and can stand a lot of water for the underpainting. It doesn’t buckle and eat up the pastels a bit.

"Very Good Paper"
It’s always flat, no curls, no waviness, no dimples. The grit is usually quite consistent. It takes liquids, such as alcohol and water. I can brush off a painting I don’t like, and paint over it.

"LuxArchival pastel Paper"
I love this wonderful paper!!! Only comes in white and I like putting a background color if I want one.
It’s tough, very rough and I love it. Just finished a portrait so it’s not just for landscapes.
