The Blue Earth pastel color sets are fascinating to work with. I purchased the yellow set. The packaging is well thought. The pastels are inserted vertically into the foam divider, thus the box takes little space on a crowded table. Inside the box the pastels are arranged by value and saturation; you are able to quickly grab the correct pastel which speeds your work along - more time for observation and mark making! I enjoy doing single hue studies with the Blue Earth set - great for nocturnes in low-light situations when your eyes can not determine hue. They also integrate well with my other soft pastels. As to the pastels themselves the softness is consistent through the set. I’ve only tried the warm yellow set, so I don’t know if the pigments in the other sets vary the consistency. I plan on purchasing more sets over time. If your current palette of pastels is short in values for a particular hue, these sets are a perfect remedy.

These yellows are so soft and a beautiful color range. The yellow browns are stunning for landscapes. I would definitely buy these again and look forward to getting other color ranges.
