The Girault pastels are packed very well - just one broken stick out of 400. I swatched out all the colors and they are clean and clear. I love the fact that they generate very little dust and have such a unique texture, firm yet soft. Some of the darks are a bit harder, but that is good for making more transparent darks. Girault sticks are great for making side strokes when broken, but I intend to use this set more for linear strokes and hatching. They work great with either approach, especially on Pastelmat. Despite their small diameter, the sticks hold up well and last a long time. I look forward to putting this set to work!

Girault pastels are amazing in that they straddle two categories…. Hard and soft pastels. They have a sharp edge for fine lines and detail work and then a beautiful soft texture for broad strokes and gorgeous coverage. They serve a very specific place in my collection of pastel tools. Well worth the price and a great value!

I think Girault Pastels are exceptional and worth the extra cost. I am so great full for Dakota Art and the wonderful customer service that they provide. I placed the order, received it quickly and my treasured pastels were packaged thoughtfully and carefully. It can’t get any better!
