I use this on mat board, multi media boards and Judson’s Carton Board and acrylic primed stretched canvas. It creates a deep sand-paper-like surface that receives and holds many layers of pastels.
Painted thinly on board it is smooth enough for dynamic effects on strong portraits. Painted thickly you can create textural brushstrokes for dramatic effects in landscapes. Lots of adventurous options for large florals and abstracts. This can kick you out an artistic rut!
Enjoy!
