The soft pastels were easy to order and delivered within the timeframe that was promised.

I hope to purchase the full range of Terry Ludwigs someday but these are my starter darks and they are like having dark butter in arsenal! Some of the best and softest darks on the market. Stop thinking about it and get them!

After much research and agonizing over wether or not to splurge on this pricey set I finally did it. The dark browns and greens are perfect and ones that I havent been able to find anywhere else. These are harder pastels than blue eartch and schmincke but still mostly buttery smooth. I say mostly because 3 or 4 of them have this shiny, hard, grity stuff that appears randomly as you use the pastels. I have to sand it away. I can see diagonal streaks of this shiny stuff in one of them. So Ive minused one star. Still worth it but not a totally flawless set.

This set was a perfect addition to my pastels. Lovely dark colors and the square shape is fantastic. I love how you can make little lines by tapping the edges. Definitely recommend :)

I would have given this product a 5+ but I could not give a perfect rating due to the fact that the pastels arrived in awful condition. One pastel was smashed/crumbled to tiny pieces and completely unusable. Most others in this set of 30 were broken in two or 3 pieces. With the price paid for these items I really expect pristine delivery. But as far as the pastels themselves, they are beautifully pigmented and just lovely to use. I will certainly buy them again and pray the packaging and shipping department gets their act together.

The set seemed very blackened compared to the image represented in the website. The greens did not appear to differentiate from one another. The violets did not have the glow of color that I saw on the color image. TerryLudwigs are a great pastel and I was hoping to add this set to my pastels. I am sorry these were not what I was expecting. I have returned the set as per our conversation. You are a great company to work with.

I absolutely love these rich dark pastels. I have been wanting them for a while and decided to gift them to myself for Christmas. I have been very happy with the richness they give my paintings and the depth they add. Merry Christmas to me!

Not sure what else to say about Terry Ludwig pastels. Undoubtedly they are the best of the best, a little more expensive, but my clear favorite. I'm glad someone suggested I add this set to my collection - I doubt anyone can go wrong doing so. Setting the darks is crucial to any painting and this set provides a range of options to do this.

I have loved every pastel with Terry Ludwig's name on it. I would love for my students to be able to use them but I can't allow them to use mine.

I own many Ludwig pastel sets. They are my “go to’s” on all kinds of surfaces. They flow over each other as well as add the final wow accent. I especially enjoy using the Ludwig set of Intense Darks 1 and no other manufactures come close to offering intense, deep, luscious pastels. However; the set of Intense Darks 11 is a big disappointment. These are dry, crusty, and it’s difficult to distinguish one color from the others. I’ll be sending them back to Dakota. I appreciate their liberal return policy so I can purchase other deep pastels for my art.

Yes, they are expensive but so very color intense that you end up using less to achieve the dark tone you want. The purples are incredible! Save up and at least get the purple and green tones... worth the money.

Terry Ludwig's pastels are the finest I've ever used. The colors are magnificent and they feel like butter. I've put away all my other pastels.

These are a collection of the most lovely pastels I’ve seen. Dark and intense, go on like butter. So, an easy and light touch. Expensive but worth the cost.

Well worth the purchase to get these very dark shades. Not used often but when needed I'm glad I'll have them. They are smooth and pigment is applied easily. A light touch is needed. Although expensive, a good purchase and well worth it.

These dark pastels are the best for giving paintings depth and life.
