Composing the Poetic Landscape

The primary focus of this workshop is on shapes and editing. And the goal is to create the illusion of subject matter details in your landscape painting without laboring over unnecessary rendering, resulting in a more expressive and eloquent capture of your subject. We’ll thoroughly address the thumbnail planning stage and block-in. We’ll then work up to finished paintings that maintain the initial shapes and editing, while learning to make selective decisions for the final stages.

The workshop will include demonstrations and plenty of individual instruction. Although open to all levels, artists with at least some basic landscape painting experience and familiarity with their supplies will benefit most.
