I wanted to love this box as I have 2 other Dakota pastel boxes, however though I love the design and quality of the box itself, the foam design in function is poor. Putting some of the Blue Earth pastels back in or taking them out makes a mess especially with the softer pastels. Many chipped and left pastel dust and pieces all over. The pastels lying flat as with the Dakota pochade box ( which I also have) is a much better storage set up than with the field box set up. I will maybe try to change the foam and set up to be the same if I am totally frustrated with the field box layout. Great for protecting and carrying the pastels, not for using them.
